GDOE Job Fair

  Another day, another dollar. I am still confused of the process of leaving and reapplying to be a teacher. When I worked at Rev & Tax, if the agency still needed us, they just continued the Limited Time Appointment and created a new Personal Action so that there was no break in pay periods. The temporary certification we initially receive is good for two years. I do not know why they do not give us the option to stay with school that we are currently with to avoid extra paper work. I feel it is like a process that can be more organized efficiently and not waste a lot of peoples time. Just going to this event and seeing the job openings as well was not making any sense. I am still fairly new to this teaching process considering I hit my 1 year mark in August, and I cannot comprehend that MAXIMIZATION process to be efficient and then I see so many openings. Khan Academy - Lost in thought with Sal Khan's thoughts

       I had so many thoughts running through my mind as the podcast was rolling. I thought it would be more about its business model or how it came to be popular as it is. It turned out to be how it started and it gave a few stories of how it motivated Sal Khan to establish Khan Academy.      A story is brought up about how he had an absent father and how the brothers of the mother moved in with her, opened up convenient stores, and she worked most of her life as a cashier. I relate to some parts of his story, but because I grew up in a middle low class family, a lot of things just did not click for me. He was able to go to these expensive schools and I do not know if he got there through scholarship or if his family helped him, but just going to University of Guam for a middle low class is expensive.
